Group Lessons
Group lessons offer an introduction to basic techniques, terminology, and tactics that EVERY fencer should know. They also provide students with a chance to practice with others and apply learned concepts in bout situations.
Group lessons (foil only) are offered for:
Y-10 (ages 7-10) Basic
Y-10 (ages 7-10) Intermediate
Y-14
(ages 11-17) Basic
Y-14 (ages 11-17) Intermediate
Open Basic (ages 13+)
Basic class completion is a prerequisite for Intermediate classes.
Intermediate level
classes
allow more advanced fencers to continue their training.
GLSC membership is not
required for group lesson instruction.
Group lessons are offered in 10-week sessions.
Semi-private Lessons
Semi-private lessons are designed for two people to share a lesson slot. They are available to ages 6+ and all age combinations. They are scheduled by the month, and are offered on a weekly basis in 40-minute sessions. Both students must be present for the lesson, no substitutes accepted. Make-ups and rescheduling will be allowed via GLSC policy. GLSC membership is required for this type of instruction.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are strictly one-on-one, and are available for students age 6+.
These lessons are available on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. It is requested that
bi-weekly bookers have a partner to fill their slot during their "off" weeks.
In the event that a bi-weekly student's lesson should fall during a holiday week,
that lesson date would be moved to the next available week. The rotation will
then continue on as normal. For either type of booking, make-ups and rescheduling
will be available via GLSC policy. GLSC membership is required for this type
of instruction.
Punch-card Lessons
This options allows for fencers with fluctuating schedules. With the punch-card,
you buy packages of 4 or 8 30-minute lessons to be scheduled at your (and the
instructor's) convenience. This is not a "regularly" scheduled lesson,
and availability is limited, so schedule each one well in advance of your intended
date. GLSC instructors require 1 week for scheduling. USFA and GLSC memberships
required for this type of instruction.

By participating in the Budget Pay Plan, students will pay a fixed lesson
rate of $100.00 (including the month of August) This rate will remain frozen,
even if lesson rates change during the season. They will receive 40 lessons
at a reduced rate, and the remainder of the season's lessons at their regularly
scheduled slot for free. Those students who join GLSC after the beginning
of the competition year will initially have a pro-rated Budget Plan. Those
students who choose to discontinue their lessons before the end of the competition
year will be required to pay the difference if there should be an outstanding
balance of lesson fees in relationship to received lessons.
